Student Bursaries & Co-operative Leadership Camp

Youth Development has been designated as an area of considerable support for FirstOntario. We help our Youth Members achieve more than their financial goals - we promote life goals to help our young Members become the adults of tomorrow.

FirstOntario Student Bursary - 3 Bursaries of $1,500

As a strong supporter of youth, we believe in your potential and encourage all youth to pursue that potential. We also understand the challenges of post-secondary education, particularly the associated costs. That's where FirstOntario can help. Every summer, FirstOntario awards three $1,500 Bursaries to Youth Members aged 21 and under who will be entering their 1st year of post-secondary studies. The Bursaries will be awarded to 3 Youth Members who:

• Have a minimum scholastic achievement of a B average or higher (70%+); and
• Have been a Member of the credit union for a minimum 1 year; and
• Demonstrate the co-operative philosophies of self-help, responsibility, equality, democracy, equity, and solidarity through school and/or community service.

Co-Operative Young Leaders Camp -The Best Summer Experience Ever

 

Sure CYL has all the things that make summer camp fun- hikes, campfires, swimming, volleyball and hanging out. But our summer program offers so much more!  In fact, at the Co-operative Young Leaders summer program we bet you'll have the best summer experience ever! 

During your CYL stay you will learn how to be a leader and a team player, how to co-operate, solve problems, and develop an increased sense of self-awareness.

This unique co-operative leadership training experience is specifically designed for youth between the ages of 14 to 18. There are 3 levels beginning at Junior through to Intermediate, then Senior Sessions. Its a great time with peers. Once a year a CYL newsletter is printed that takes a fun and energetic look at the leadership camp. Click here for a location of the camp.

FirstOntario supports a number of our young Members to attend the camp through our sponsorship and covers the Sponsorship Fee of $650 for each participant. This includes meals, accommodations and materials. Selected applicants are responsible for the Participant Fee of $150 and transportation to and from the camp.
